USCIS’s preview instructions for the updated DACA request form, Form I-821D, show that DACA requesters may additionally apply for advance parole at the same time as filing for DACA. This appears to be available for both initial requesters and DACA renewals.
Effectively, this means that DACA requesters will not have to wait until their DACA request is approved to send in their advance parole (travel permit) filing. Both packets can be submitted simultaneously. This should cut off months in wait time for those wishing to travel. The additional filing fee of $445 for the advance parole is also due at the time of filing.
Not everyone should apply for an advance parole travel permit. If you are interested, you should seek qualified legal counsel prior to doing so. Our attorneys are available to discuss the pros and cons of seeking travel permission in your case.
