Andrea L. Sweeney (formerly Andrea L. Smith) is a Senior Associate Attorney at Kolko & Casey, P.C., where she specializes in the field of U.S. Immigration Law. Andrea’s practice focuses on all immigration matters including filings before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR), and related litigation.
Andrea grew up in Montana, and attended college at Western Washington University, in Bellingham, Washington, majoring in Communication with an emphasis in Rhetorical Theory. While completing her undergraduate degree, Andrea had the opportunity to travel abroad by participating in the Semester at Sea program where she took her first class in Immigration Law, meeting people from all over the world and stopping in nine different countries.
Andrea attended law school at New England School of law in Boston, Massachusetts. During law school, Andrea continued to concentrate her studies on Immigration Law and traveled abroad to Valletta, Malta where she took classes focusing on Refugee and Asylum Law and International Law. She also had the opportunity to attend a class taught by U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice, John Roberts. Upon return to Boston, Andrea interned with the Harvard Refugee and Immigration Clinic, a nonprofit clinic specializing in representing indigent noncitizens.
Since graduation, Andrea’s practice has focused primarily on immigration law matters. She has gained experience in family-based, and employment-based immigration, and representing clients in removal proceedings. Andrea is licensed in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Her admission to the Colorado Bar is pending.
In her free time, Andrea enjoys spending time with her family and friends, listening to live music, traveling, and seasonal outdoor sports and activities.
